Haiku from Sermon | 3 August 2014 | Bill Clem
by Glenn on August 3, 2014
haiku reflecting on the themes and statements in a message (3 August 2014) on Isaiah 52–53 by Bill Clem from the series The Story at Imago Dei Community, Portland, Oregon:
i
they aren’t cheerleaders
the prophets show a straight line
addressing problems
ii
“What do I do now?”
better than “I should have done
something different.”
iii
the atonement is
an invitation from God
for intimacy
iv
no way to avoid
suffering in life it is
God’s plan to transform
v
you will suffer but
you still need a Substitute
suffering Servant
vi
nothing big enough
to keep you from the table
surrender God’s terms
vii
not what we deserve
not what we’ve earned, hope is
what Jesus has done
